The hiatus occurred because both Aaron (bass) and Jason (guitar) left the group. The reasons why Aaron and Jase left the band is different and it is not our way to get involved in a lengthy explanation.

The band members and management just wish to express their thanks and appreciation for all the work that Aaron and Jase did developing the band and creating the sound of the first incarnation of Kaamora.

Rumours

What we want to address is the rumour that Kaamora is defunct. Nothing is further from the truth. On the contrary the remaining members of the band are working harder than before, to bring more chaotic, faster, and technical elements to the sound.

The band has much new material to resolve, heaps of jamming and auditioning to do. So it will be a wee bit before the band hits the stage again. The band wants to ensure that large catalog of tunes is created so they can take the best songs to the stage. The sound is going to be heavier, which means, some off ‘Lambs to the Slaughter’ EP will not be brutal enough. The band is not saying it will ages until they’re back, but when they do come back, some fans might be shocked. So be prepared!!!!

The band is positive that people will get into the new material and we hope to see you at the relaunch of Kaamora. If you want to keep up the news about what is happening with Kaamora then ensure you are following this blog, twitter or even make sure you are friends on Myspace and/or Facebook.

Finally, again the band wishes to express their appreciation and thanks to the people that have supported Kaamora and hope you will some you future support by turning up to a gig

Will X, Luke and Dyl (aka Kaamora)

Band Positions

The band’s bass player position has been filled and who that person is will be revealed with the relaunch of Kaamora. Obviously, the band is still seeking a guitarist with a passion for death/black metal genre. This means people into anything like Guns N Roses and similar ilke need NOT apply. The band is after someone you can input another layer onto our dark sound.

Please contact the band through Myspace , Facebook or the Kaamora website, if interested.

SCoRCHeR FeST: national festival for unsigned artists/bands

SCoRCHeR FeST Happenings:

Kaamora are doing two gigs in the national SCoRCHER FeST for umsigned bands.

ADELAIDE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA, DUKE OF YORK HOTEL, 21 MARCH

The first gig will be in Adelaide at the Duke of York Hotel, 82 Currie Street, which is in the CBD, on Sunday March 21st. This will be Kaamora's first trip outside Victoria and basically this is a trip to promote the band to another audience.

SCoRCHeR FeST doors open around 11:00am and the even closes at 9:00pm. Tickets cost $15.00 from the venue ( Duke of York ) or the SCoRCHeR FeST people. Kaamora hit the Balcony Bar stage around 8:40pm and will close the gig. The Balcony Bar is got to be by going UP or so the band has been told.

If you want the $10 ticket you can get it by going to the band's Big Cartel Store.

Hopefully, there will be some people there to see us. If you do get to see us please take the opportunity to say hi: even tell us what you think of our music. The band just hopes it doesn't scare away people like they did at a competition at the Espy Hotel in St.Kilda where Kaamora was the heaviest and brutal band in the mix. The reaction from the CD has made those 4 months seem like an figging eternity!

At the moment we're working closely with producer John Chase to put a filmclip together. We just finished putting the draft storyboard together, after many hours of coffee, smokes and bourbon to get the imagination juices flowing. It's exciting to think that we're doing this shit after only gigging for a year. Considering this is a band that was originally intended to be something to do on the weekend, I think we're doing pretty frigging well!

We've been updating all our gear since the start of the year. Will and I are now playing Jackson guitars (thank you K. Rudd), and I've kicked the old Behringer amp out the door and gotten myself a Krank Rev1+ (nice)! The amp is so loud at 1, it shakes the walls. At 4 it's uncomfortable to stand next to. I haven't had the testicular fortitude to turn it all the way up to 10 yet!

Over the next few months we have a few radio interviews lined up in Australia and the US. This is interesting shit, because most of us haven't even set foot in a radio station before!

Our first ever radio interview will be for The Heavy Session on 3CR, 855 AM (Melbourne) on the 18th of September at about 11:30 pm EST. Fans outside Melbourne can listen on the internet at http://www.3cr.org.au/.

This is the night before our first Melbourne headlining slot at the Central Club in Richmond. The 19th happens to be my favorite day of the year; International Speak Like a Pirate Day! YARRRRRRRRRRR!

We better see some bandannas and eye patches there!

Quietly, we've gotten the old 15 watt amps out and started songwriting again a few nights a week. Will and I have tried writing on our good equipment, but it just wasn't right. So it's back to sitting in my lounge room, with bourbon and either my laptop of a crappy old tape player, bashing out riffs relentlessly, putting songs together.

We really want to keep our mystique on the new music, but all I can really give away is that we're going to try for a full length album this time (about 60-70 minutes in length), and that last time Will and I wrote together, our drinks of choice were Woodstock and Jim Beam and our attitude was "if it's not good enough to remember, it's not good enough to keep".

We've still got the same attitude, but we've changed our drink of choice to Wild Turkey.

Luke has stated that he'll be singing more on the album too, and we've been experimenting with organ and keyboard sounds too.

We've also been listening to a lot of Death, Lamb of God and Amon Amarth lately, and Dyl's gotten us into Porcupine Tree.

We're really playing around with dynamics, and experimenting with starting a song in one style or genre, and morphing it into another, so gradually that you hardly notice the change until the end of the song!

We're not putting a date on when the album will be recorded yet, we'll be waiting until the writing is finished before we even think about that. But we'll be bringing some of the new music out at shows occasionally.

Thank you to all of you guys for supporting us! The last 4 months have been great, and we really appreciate the encouragement we've been receiving. It's comforting to know that, regardless of bullshit musical trends and what the 'experts' say, there are still people who want to listen to heavy music for the artform that it is, and that headbanging is still alive and kicking!

There are plenty of bands out there like Bezerkerfox, Internal Nightmare, Nous, Damnations Day and Order of Torment who are still in it purely for the love of music, and they deserve a lot of support.

Horns up guys, and we'll see you on the 19th, at the Central Club!

On behalf of the brotherhood that is Kaamora,

~Jase~

Gulf Coast Music Review

Gulf Coast Music Reviews got their hands on the EP Lambs to the Slaughter. What you will find below is that review. The reader should pay particular attention to the definition of 'death metal' provided by the reviewer. In our humble opinion it is one the better definitions we have come across.

Lambs to the Slaughter by Kaamora, 2009

My Review:
Heavy Metal: Music which is Profound (Heavy) and Gritty Sounding (Metal).

Whenever I do a review of a band which has chosen a genre which is not considered as being “mainstream” and is not as well known to the general public, I feel that it is only fair to everyone concerned, that is, not only to the group, but to my readers as well, that I give a little background material on their chosen genre, so that their music can be better understood. We must keep in mind that
music is a language meant for communication and unless we understand the language we cannot communicate with it.

First of all, Death Metal does not follow the usual “verse – chorus – verse” of traditional pop and pop rock music. It begins with a riff and than another and another until the song is complete. Second, Death metal bands tend to use complex language to describe the world in terms of its function and technologies. Death Metal music is very structured and in that respect, is closer to classical and baroque music than it is to rock. Unlike rock genres, there is almost a total absence of gender words and love songs. Its goal is not to affirm the emotions of the individual, but to point out the effects of structural change in the surrounding world. Death metal is not about emotional escapism. Death metal is about reality.

Probably one of the biggest complaints, especially from first time listeners of Death Metal, is that they can’t understand the lyrics. I have to admit that this is not always an easy task. Unlike other forms of music, in Death Metal the vocalist takes almost a secondary role to the music. The volume of the vocalist is usually slightly lower than that of the music. In Death Metal the music, not the vocalist, plays the central role. Secondly, rather than singing in a clear, melodious voice, the Death Metal vocalist uses low pitched “death growls” and high pitched “death rasp” screams. All this aside, if a person is truly interested in broadening their music horizons, by paying close attention to and repetitive listening, the lyrics of Death Metal, can and should be, understood.

Now on to Lambs to the Slaughter, by Kaamora. The name Kaamora or Caamora, means “to purge through use of fire”. Kaamora hails from the small town of Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. The central theme of this EP is the destruction of society by the very machines it has created. That by the “flip of a switch” the predator becomes the prey and that we are close to becoming a Matrix-like society. This is a classic Death Metal theme.

The first thing that impressed me is that listening to the full EP is like reading a book. Everything is in order and to further enhance this the lead-in tracks have been eliminated between several of the tracks so that they blend together as one. Since the player I use on this blog only plays one track at a time I had to combine tracks to demonstrate this effect. You’ll have to take my word that this is how it appears on the EP. The EP starts out with the eerie, short introduction, Into the Storm, which sets the mood and continues on, chapter after chapter, that is song after song, and finishes with End of an Aeon, that is the Aeon of man. By listening to this EP you catch a glimpse of the history and the fate of man. Of things past, and things yet to come.

I’ve never considered myself a “head banger”, but about halfway through the second track I found my head bobbing to the rhythmic beat! The music is that well written and the band plays superbly! Drummer Dyl Jones carries a heavy and steady beat, Lead guitarist Will X and bassist Aaron Thomas play-off against each other flawlessly and Emgee’s keyboards round out and add fullness to the music.

Vocalist Luke Greenwood can actually sing and has an amazing range, from the lowest “Death Growl” to the highest pitched “Death Rasp” scream! Even though he sings behind a wall of sound, his lyrics come through.

Kaamora may very well be setting a new standard and raising the bar of Heavy Metal/Death Metal for bands to come. I agree with the other reviews of this group. Kaamora should be fronting for a major Metal group and should be on a major label within a year!

If you are a Heavy/Death Metal fan, you owe it to yourself to purchase a copy of Lambs to the Slaughter by Kaamora. If you are not a fan of Heavy/Death Metal, you should buy a copy of Lambs to the Slaughter, anyway, as a means of broadening you musical horizons and becoming more eclectic in your musical tastes. 9 out of 10 and a thumbs up for Lambs to the Slaughter, by Kaamora!

By Bill Dwyer

People should check out the other reviews that Bill has completed. This is metal. Real metal. And there are no prisoners taken here.

It’s definitely progressive, but it’s not math metal. Thankfully. It’s raw and quite emotive. The timing is supburb.

Ballarat never sounded so brutal.

Yep, this is a local band from Victoria, Australia. The drums and bass stick together and move as a powerful force. The guitars are dripping wet on top and drive a lot of treble and high mid. The vocals are done in a full growl – not everyone’s cup of tea – and the force is again brutal. You can hear a unique blend of a wide range of influences coming to taint this voice: I get flavours of Bolt Thrower, Cradle of Filth and a little Pantera in the higher screams.

The guitars continue to fly on top of drums and bass that can only be described as a rumbling boom. It’s a really nice balance of blood lust and atomic doom: it’s fast yes, and raw, but the bass and drums ground the sound to give it depth. Depth, especially in faster and harder metal, is vital to develop any kind of story and emotion with the listener.

Soul of A Machine is track 5 of the 7 track album – is a great little spoken word piece. A really unique mark on the album – and something rarely done.

Birth of a Digital God would definitly have to be one of my favourite tracks followed by Ruptured. Over all, the final track End of The Aeon - would be my favourite. Like the opening track, we’re treated to the vocalists clean styled vocals. AND FUCK ARE THEY GOOD. The vocalist, Luke Greenwood, really showcasing his full range, tonal flexibility and raw emotion throughout this last piece.

The album over is very dynamic and is great cranked at some solid volumes. To Dylan, Will, Aaron, Jase and Luke: keep up the amazing work. Hope to see you guys in Sydney sometime.

For everyone else, get your copy of Lambs to the Slaughter by Kaamora and prepare to be taken apart with a pick axe, and love every minute of it.

Post-Script:

I just kept the CD running and discovered the secret track. Hah. This is fucking brilliant.

Foto of KAAMORA Digital Image Cafe Photo of the Day

Well, here is something a little different.

Sue Krane, from S & S Studiios, who has been taking the recent promo shots of Kaamora, sent us an email to say that one of her pictures of KAAMORA was selected by Digital Image Cafe as the photo of the day.

Here is a link for you to check it out

www.DigitalImageCafe.com/viewPhoto.aspx?type=contest&id=562536

Well done Sue: mucho congrats from the band

Lambs TO THE SLAUGHTER REVIEW

'Lambs to the Slaughter' is one of those CD's that you'll find yourself cranking on your car stereo to scare the kids in the neighborhood. Following this great success, the five-piece group got together in the studio and recorded their debut EP 'Lambs to the Slaughter', which was a DIY effort as they produced it themselves and released it under their own label, RMF records, in May 2009.

The band consists of vocalist Luke Greenwood, lead guitarist Will X, Jase Emgee on guitar and keyboard, Aaron Thomas on bass, and Dylan "Dyl" Jones on drums.

'Lambs to the Slaughter' is a 7-track EP:

1. Into The Storm
2. Tempest Rising
3. Ruptured
4. Educating The Worms
5. Soul Of A Machine
6. Birth Of The Digital God
7. End Of An Aeon

'Lambs to the Slaughter' is one of those CD's that you'll find yourself cranking on your car stereo to scare the kids in the neighborhood. It's loud, it's heavy, and it's unapologetic. It begins with a 58-second intro track called "Into The Storm" that is unsettling, eerie noise that appropriately ties into the ambiance of down-pouring rain. In the end a nightmarish, almost ghostlike scream leads into the second track, "Tempest Rising", and you'll find your head moving to this easy-flowing song without realizing it. It's the type of sound that makes you want to fight somebody, which in turn makes this song a great crowd pleaser for live shows. It combines hard, aggressive guitar riffs with a melody established by the keyboard, and Luke Greenwood's voice going through a scale of low growls, spine-chilling high screams, and somewhat "clean" vocals within the chorus.

Greenwood's abilities as a vocalist are something uncommon amongst many independent metal bands, as in he can actually sing and he doesn't suck. He possesses a very powerful voice that demands your respect (and your soul). With Dylan Jones, his drumming has the quality of any top metal band's, going rabid on his drum kit and yet maintaining time and beat. The guitars can be difficult to distinguish in these songs considering there's so much going on, but Will X makes his presence known in future tracks as he wreaks havoc in "Ruptured" and "Birth Of The Digital God.

Throughout the EP, each musician will leave their impact as very talented individuals. From first impression it might feel like the songs are becoming unoriginal and difficult to distinguish, but all it takes is time to sit down and really listen and you can name each song by heart without looking at the track number and back of the CD case. Kaamora are well on their way to establishing their signature sound to separate themselves from what we've already heard in the metal scene. It's definitely Will X's personal style as a lead guitarist and Jase Emgee's keyboard that makes them stand out the most from other bands.

As these guys continue descending down the right path, not only are they material as an opening band for huge tours and/or metal festivals, but they can even be a likely candidate for big record companies such as Trustkill and Century Media. You might not fully recognize the talent of the band as a whole by first listen to 'Lambs to the Slaughter', but after the second or third time, this band will be stuck to you like an infectious disease. With their raw talent and potential in mind, Kaamora's debut EP earns a 7.5/10.

This EP is available for purchase in stores in Victoria, Australia, but for everyone else you can buy it from their Myspace. Kaamora will be doing a music video with the help of Australian film-producer John Chase. Who is John Chase you ask?

Well, John has spent some thirty years in the Australian film industry. His resume includes films such as Mad Max, Evil Angels, Dalkeith, and The Break-In, to name a few. He has also worked on TV shows such as The Henderson Kids, Blue Heelers and the like. He was also involved with producing Kylie’s first music video.

The band is just ecstatic to have someone of John’s caliber and connections working with them. After the initial meeting Luke just got into it so much that he has produced a storyboard already for the next meeting with John.

Currently, ‘The Chief’ and John are looking at possible locations. It may transpire that Rivers again may come to the fore with their warehouse providing a suitable location.

At some point the band will need to call on Extras for the film clip. Hopefully, the band will be able to put on a show for those people involved. The ‘show’ may include some other bands as well: such as BerserkerfoX. However, the details about the free gig still have to be worked out.

KAAMORA IN RIVERS

There was wee bit of a write-up and some photos. It was great of Rivers to highlight the band but to note as well that Kaamora had changed the way Rivers will approach the music for their TV ads.

Rivers Australia is now offering bands/artists the opportunity to have their music used by Rivers in their TV ads or in store. This would not have happen had not a “bunch of self proclaimed head bangers from Ballarat contacted us to see whether we wanted to use their music in our TV ads or stores (Rivers Cat #12-09 p.6).”

Now, the opportunity exists for others to get a little bit of recognition. So, if you are interested then email a sample of your music to MUSOS@RIVAUS.COM.AU

It has worked for KAAMORA and the band hopes it will work for you.

KAAMORA: LAMBS TO THE SLAUGHTER LAUNCH

MAY 14 Ballarat: Debut EP Launch @Karova Lounge

May 14th, Karova Lounge, in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia, will be the place!!!! There has been much discussion, trial and error, lots of cuppas, beers, contemplation, stargazing, sore ears, throbbing heads and sweat. In the end we are pleased with what has been produced.

The good people from Implant Media did a terrific job of replicating our EP and the graphics as well. For some of us it is truly an amazing thing to see your work transformed into a physical entity called a CD.

So we hope to see you at the Karova Lounge, for a night of metal mayhem. We are really pleased to have Diminished Reason and BerserkerfoX help us launch our EP with a bang.

Place: Karova Lounge
Time: 9:00pm
Cost: $6 @the door
Bands: Diminished Reason, BereskerfoX, Kaamora
Gig: 18+ but drag parents there you can get in (make sure they have earplugs)

Want to hear something off the EP?
You can hear some of the tracks/samples from the EP on our Myspace or even on our very own website.

NEW PROMO PICS.

The band wants to express a huge thanks to Sue Kane from S & S Studios, right here in Ballarat.
